An Update of Sorts.

To begin with, I’m having a new giveaway on Goodreads! Last but not least… Karen at Karen’s Different Corners tagged me in a blog hop thing known as the “Next Best Thing” challenge, where you’re supposed to answer the questions below and tag five other writers. Since it allows for WIPs, I thought it’d be a neat way to give the one I’m currently about to finish some spotlight. 😉

1. What is the title of your book/WIP?

I’m currently working on a novel titled The Muse Bunny.

2. Where did the idea for the book come from?

This book started as a result of my frustration during my first NaNoWriMo. I had started out with a different plot, then my computer crashed, and when I revisited what I had managed to salvage, I decided the plot just didn’t make sense at all. For two weeks I tried to think of something to write, then it came to me – why not blame my Writer’s Block and frustration on something? Or more specifically, a little sneaky bunny (derived from the term “plot bunny”).

3. What genre would your book fall under?

Magical realism.

4. Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?

Hmm. The bunny itself would have to be animated of course. I think Lily Collins or Mary Elizabeth Winstead may fit the role of Anna (the aspiring writer onto which the bunny is latched), and Chris Pine would be great as Liam (the published author who comes to Anna’s rescue).

5. What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?

I never know what to say here. Let’s see…

Writers everywhere have muses who aid them with their creative processes, but the one glued to Anna would rather kill her than see her writing the next bestseller.

6. Is your book published or represented?

It will hopefully be self-published by the end of this year.

7. How long did it take you to write?

Uhm. Four years. I managed to finish the majority of the story in one month (despite a minor setback where I lost around ten thousand words), but then when it came to thinking about the ending, I was stuck. I liked both my main characters too much to decide which one should win over the other. Disadvantages of being a pantser, I suppose. Fortunately, I’m almost done with it!

8. What other books within your genre would you compare it to?

I’m not sure it can be compared to anything. I personally have never come across something like it, and that’s why I’m especially proud of it.

9. Which authors inspired you to write this book?

Me probably? Haha. Since this was about the trials of a writer, I only needed to rely upon my own experience to write the book.

10. Tell us anything else that might pique our interest in your book.

Just picture every Writer’s Block you suffered from, every moment you wanted to just rip your story to shreds, every moment you wanted to quit… then try to imagine that it was all the doing of a tiny, invisible bunny who always sits on your shoulder and sabotages everything you do, then you’ve got yourself The Muse Bunny. =]

My bunny kinda looks like that, but hey – appearances can be very VERY deceiving.
