You freeze in your tracks.
You had thought Linda was just imagining things, but here was that scratching sound, loud and clear. Any semblance of bravery immediately abandons you, and you make a wild dash for the gate. You could almost swear something is chasing you, but a glance over your shoulder reveals otherwise. You still don’t dare stop. You run and run until you reach your apartment and hammer loudly at the door.
Your significant other opens up after a few bangs and says, “You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”
You just smile wryly but decide not to let them know just how they right they were. Sometimes, just sometimes, ignorance might be a bliss.
The End.

It might help if you had said friend watch some episodes of Ghost Adventures. Takes a bit of the scare out of things.

I haven’t read any of his Gooosbumps books, I read the other books that R L Stine wrote. His books, Christopher Pike, and others were the reason why I wanted to start writing. I use to have so much more creative stories in my head 20 years ago than I do now.
I assume you mean Fear Street? 🙂 It’s funny you should say that, because R.L.Stine’s books made me went to tell stories of my own too. And I can relate! When I was younger I used to come up with story ideas left, right and center. Now I’m lucky if I can come up with one every few months.

I know a fellow who’s writing a story based on the choices people vote for, but it seems that his readers are all incredibly dull and choose the safe options most of the time.
Yikes. Your friend’s method of writing sounds pretty fun, but seems to me they need a new audience! Nothing’s good come out of playing it safe… well, at least in fiction!

As a child and you teen, choose your own adventure books were quite popular and as an adult I have often thought about them, and missed them. Feeling as though you had some input into the characters’ action, and also having the opportunity to experience the multiple paths and ‘what its’ that often occurs.
Developing a new medium to bring these potentially endless stories excites me with hope for more to come.
Well here’s hoping! I recently came across one written especially for adults. I just may have to look into it.
