I was planning on making this thing a regular occurring on this blog, but I’ve been too busy to blog lately! Work has been hectic – but productive – and I’m catching up on books and shows that I’ve been wanting to indulge in. This weekend I got my first guilt-free breather in a long time, and what better way to celebrate than with some dessert?

The above treats are all courtesy of Ladurée. The Carre Chocolat and the Plaisir Sucree were indulgent layers of sweet, savory chocolate mousse, cake and the soft macaron meringue base, though the difference between the two is that the first is made with dark chocolate, and the second has crusty praline. Absolutely delightful. I swooned with every bite. The macarons are quite amazing too; of all the Ladurée macarons I’ve tried, salted caramel and Colombian chocolate are definitely my favourite; the flavours are so intense!
I also treated myself to some clothes, and… as always, I couldn’t resist the temptation of buying a new book, so I got The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin. Has anyone read it? It looks so interesting!
How’s your weekend going? What are you currently reading? Have you tried Ladurée before? 😀
My weekend is jammed-packed with homework. Spent hours of yesterday and today doing it.
You always have the nicest looking desserts!
I can sympathize! For the last three weekends I’ve done nothing but work. 😦 Good luck!
Haha, let’s just say I’m a strong believer in the fact that beautiful presentation is an essential aspect of dessert!
Oh my, my mouth is watering. Yummy! I’m off to find some chocolate now. Nom, nom, nom…
I hope you found something delicious! =D
I did. I’m visiting family in New England, and I found a yummy chocolate shop. 🙂
That’s great! New delicious finds are always wonderful. 😀
Look at you! Treating yourself just the way I would: dessert, clothes, and a book. Love it!
I’m finishing up edits on my final, final, final draft of The Bra Game (yippee!). I just laid out on my patio with an iced tea while listening to some Billie Holiday, and that rocked my world. Summer is already in full swing in Portland!
Haha, it’s my all-time favourite method of treatment!
Awesome – congrats on finishing the edits! =D An iced tea is the best summer drink, though personally I’m not such a huge fun of the season; it gets very hot where I am. 😦
Now I’m hungry, Zen (I think I may have some chocolate in the fridge) 😉
I haven’t read The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry – I’ll keep an eye out if you decide to write a review 😀
I hope you were able to find something!
I review every book I read, though mostly on my personal Goodreads page. You can add me as a friend if you like! I keep this blog for writing and the occasional promotion of a fellow indie. 😉
OH MY THAT LOOKS LIKE HEAVEN IN EDIBLE FORMS!!!
*breathe in* *breathe out*
I really wish I could get a taste of it, but all I taste is my computer screen, which doesn’t taste sweet at all.
I’m almost done with exams. Luckily my last exam is very chilled (unlike the others) so I actually have time to read. I’m reading “October” by Zoë Wicomb. I decided to read some proudly South African fiction for a change. So far it’s absolutely beautiful!
It was indeed heaven in my mouth. Maybe one day they will invent screens through which you can reach out and grab food, like in the Willy Wonka Chocolate Factory!
I hope you did well on your exams, and good luck with the last one! I’m compelled to look up that book if only for the name. October is an awesome *cough*birthday*cough* month!
yummy……
They were all quite yummy!
Yum, I love La Duree. I used to go all the time when I still lived in Paris and I got very excited when they opened up a store in NYC (I live nearby now). I bought some macarons (hazelnut )- so good! Your choices are so beautiful.
Yay! Someone who knows the goodness that is Ladureé! I’ve tried the hazelnut macarons; they’re delicious. 😀
