I was planning on making this thing a regular occurring on this blog, but I’ve been too busy to blog lately! Work has been hectic – but productive – and I’m catching up on books and shows that I’ve been wanting to indulge in. This weekend I got my first guilt-free breather in a long time, and what better way to celebrate than with some dessert?
The above treats are all courtesy of Ladurée. The Carre Chocolat and the Plaisir Sucree were indulgent layers of sweet, savory chocolate mousse, cake and the soft macaron meringue base, though the difference between the two is that the first is made with dark chocolate, and the second has crusty praline. Absolutely delightful. I swooned with every bite. The macarons are quite amazing too; of all the Ladurée macarons I’ve tried, salted caramel and Colombian chocolate are definitely my favourite; the flavours are so intense!
I also treated myself to some clothes, and… as always, I couldn’t resist the temptation of buying a new book, so I got The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin. Has anyone read it? It looks so interesting!
How’s your weekend going? What are you currently reading? Have you tried Ladurée before? 😀
Hi, I’m Zen, and I’m addicted to Bingo. Not just any Bingo though, no… but the new Bingo game on Facebook. I usually try to stay far away from games on Facebook, especially due to my tendency to get addicted right away. I’ve gotten hooked on Tetris, Sims Social, Bejeweled Blitz and even Mafia Wars. Every time its gets to the extent that I’ll be checking the game every few minutes… before eventually I pull the plug on the game and block it so that I don’t feel tempted to try it again.
Recently I discovered schoolFeed on Facebook, and through that I found the Bingo game. I thought I’d try it out for a bit to see what it’s all about, even though a voice in my head was screaming at me not to click the button (and you, too, should never click that button if you know what’s good for you). When you’ve had a really stressful week, you find yourself looking forward to the weekend; those two days during which you can ignore the fact that you’ll be going back to the same routine come Monday. I personally find that treats always get me relaxed, so today I called up a friend of mine to try out new “sweet” venues.
We first went to this cute little patisserie called Gustav which serves the most amazing things. My friend laughed at my sharp intake of breath when we entered the place. The displays were filled with amazing-looking desserts and cakes, and at the counter the owner of the place was working on creating European flags (probably for a UEFA Euro 2012 cake) out of coloured fondant.
I think this is the longest I’ve gone without posting. This was an extremely frustrating week, I barely had time to do anything except work because I was on incredibly short deadlines and had to work overtime to get everything done. It didn’t improve much today, and I’m already looking forward to the weekend. I wish I could just skip ahead like Adam Sandler did in his movie, Click.
In Click, Sandler’s character gets a remote control that controls aspects of his life and enables him to relive parts of his life, go on auto-pilot, skip unpleasant things…
It has been a week since I posted the giveaway for Puppet Parade, and I finally have the winners! Congratulations to Karen’s Different Corners, tobiaswrites and boomiebol on winning e-book copies of Puppet Parade! I hope you enjoy reading it! Do let me know which formats work best for you, and with your permission, I’ll send the copies to the emails associated with your WordPress accounts. =]
Thank you, everyone, for entering the giveaway! I was actually worried that no-one would enter and I’d be left standing there looking all awkward and embarrassed, haha.
And now that’s done… how are you? How is your week going so far? Personally I’m exhausted, and work’s being really stressful. It’s difficult to imagine that only a couple of days ago I was having a fantastic time watching The Avengers (an amazing movie that I would recommend to everyone) with my best friend. Weekends really need to be longer!
